How does Microneedling RF firm skin?
Our Cutera SecretPro technology uses gold-tipped needles to penetrate the skin’s surface into the deeper dermis, releasing radiofrequency energy that is absorbed as heat. These controlled micro-injuries stimulate the skin’s natural healing response by activating the production of skin-firming proteins and enzymes like collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid in order to rebuild skin’s support network. As skin heals over a six week period, it regenerates healthier, younger-looking skin with improved elasticity and volume. For best results, we recommend three treatments spaced every six weeks.

What are the risks?
As with any heat-based treatments, Microneedling RF can result in burns, permanent scars, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and infection. Choose a provider you trust.

Can’t stay out of the sun before or after treatment? It’s best to postpone heat-based restorative treatments until you can protect your skin from sun exposure and allow your body’s natural healing response to complete its cycle. Sun exposure before or after treatment may trigger hyperpigmentation, melasma, and permanent skin damage.
What to expect during the procedure
Medical-grade numbing cream is applied before treatment begins in order to make the experience more comfortable. The laser technician will map the optimal depth of skin in the treatment area before proceeding to ‘stamp’ the handpiece methodically across the skin. Heat and tingling sensations can be expected as the needles or laser moves across the skin. The laser technician will check in with you often in order to adjust the intensity of treatment. Protective eyewear is required for 1540 laser.
Healing and post-procedure care
It will generally take 1-2 weeks to recover from microneedling RF or 1540 laser resurfacing. Immediately following treatment, you will experience a sunburned sensation. Minimize heat in the treated area by avoiding hot bats and strenuous activity, discontinuing photo-sensitive medications and skincare, and using SPF 30+ daily to protect your skin. Post-procedure recovery creams can help speed the healing process.
